About Us.

The Whitley Bay Theatre Company (one of the oldest societies in the area) was formed many years ago and was originally known as The Theatre Club, Whitley Bay. In 2003 we revamped the society, brought it up to date with a new lease of life and that was a real turning point for the company.

We are proud of the fact that everyone knows each others name and also values each others opinions. Our Society is run by a small hard working Committee who give up a lot of their time to make sure we remain a healthy, hardworking and enjoyable Society to belong to. We do have a few basic House Rules that we all have to abide by but as these are mostly common sense - they really dont need much following really!

We have an excellent reputation for performing a range of productions that appeal to all types of audiences. Whether you like murder mysteries, fast moving farces or like to sit back with a stroll down memory lane with adaptations of well known television classics - there is something for all to enjoy.

We are a very friendly Society with a large number of members. Any one is welcome to join our Society, we always welcome new members. Wether your talents lie on or off stage there are many aspects of the society that you could get involved with. We always have the kettle on and numerous chocolate biccies on the go, so just come in and say hello and find out the crack! There is no pressure and you won't be asked to do anything you don't want to do - apart from the washing up maybe! We rehearse on a Tuesday and Wednesday evening at St Paul's Church in Whitley Bay from 7.30pm. If you would like to join us or find out more about the society Contact Us.

The last few years has seen us mainly performing at the Whitley Bay Playhouse. Now Whitley Bay Playhouse has closed for its well over due redevelopment we are resident at The Tynemouth Priory Theatre where we have been made to feel very welcome and we are proud to call it our new home for the foreseeable future.
