At the time this was the biggest production that Whitley Bay Theatre Company had ever taken on. Following our theme of doing well known tv adaptations we could not resist the urge to bring Basil Fawlty to the stage.
We chose the following episodes:
- The Kipper and The Corpse
- Communication Problems
- Gourmet Night
- and The Germans
Little did we know the success that this show would be. We had record audiences packing out the Playhouse auditorum - with tickets virtually selling themselves.
Directed by Chris Johnson, the society reached new heights with its performances and reputation.
Special note has to be made of Jason Fenn as Basil Fawlty.
Without his hard work and commitment the Fawlty series would never have hit the stage and been as successful as it has been.
