Emmeline started acting at the age of nine when she was cast as the Cheshire Cat in 'Alice in Wonderland' at the Phoenix Theatre in Blyth, and has been singing and dancing for as long as she can remember! Her first clear memory is singing into a hairbrush at 18 months old - and she even has photographic evidence to prove it!
After spending her formative acting years in the Children's Section at the Phoenix Theatre in Blyth, she bid farewell with a flourish with her portrayal of 'Dazzle Star' in "Dazzle" (a spoof of Star Trek). Emmeline later progressed into shows with both Beaconsfield Operatic Society and Blyth Music and Theatre Company, playing various roles in musicals such as 'Liesl' in The Sound of Music (1993), 'Frou-Frou' in "The Merry Widow" (1994) and 'Patsy' in "Crazy For You" (2007).
In 2005, Emmeline took on the daunting task of rehearsing for 3 shows at once! Fortunately all the parts were American - 'Gertie Cummings' in 'Oklahoma!', "Shirley" the dead lesbian in "Five Blue Haired Ladies Sitting on a Green Park Bench" and what has to be her favourite role so far, when she played 'Barbara' who disguises herself as 'Bobby' who stows away on the famous red double decker bus in 'Summer Holiday'. She never thought she'd see the day when she would be a 32 year old woman playing a 16 year old girl who pretends to be a 14 year old boy!!
After meeting Jason Fenn at a read-through for a pantomime at the Priory Theatre in October 2007, they hit it off and started dating. During this time, Emmeline appeared in many plays at the Priory Theatre, including playing 'Ann Catley', the teenage singer in 'Those Delavals', 'Sylvie Hauser', the sexy swedish au pair in 'Move Over Mrs Markham' and the school bully 'Sybil Burlington' in a play that Emmeline waited five years to be in, "Daisy Pulls It Off". Emmeline was overjoyed to be cast as the 'baddie' and thoroughly enjoyed being nasty to everyone for a week (only on stage though!)
In May 2008, she moved to Tynemouth full time....and the rest, as they say, is history! Emmeline and Jason were married on 1st August 2009 and honeymooned in Austria.
Emmeline is never happier than when she is pretending to be someone else, singing, strutting her funky stuff on the dancefloor. .. or bossing Jason around (in your dreams, Emm - Jason).
She recently became a member of Whitley Bay Theatre Companys Committee and is looking forward to the challenges that may arise!
Emmeline was thrilled to be asked to join WBTC to play 'Connie Wicksteed' in "Habeas Corpus" and loved being a geeky spinster for a week!
Emmeline and Jason were thrilled to find they are expecting their first child in 2010, so Emmeline is taking a break from shows for a while.... but cant wait to finally see her hubby play "Basil" in "Fawlty Towers" in June 2010.
