WBTC support Culture Quarter and require cast for "Albert"

Released: 17 August 2009

Whitley Bay Theatre Company are supporting Culture Quarter with the CQ:WORDplay.

WORDplay is a Literature and Drama Festival being held on Saturday 17th October 2009 at St. Paul's Church, Whitley Bay

WBTC will be performing a short play called "Albert" directed by David Swinton. David is looking for a small cast of 3 and without wishing to be rude the cast need to be the younger side of 25!

A short synopsis -

Karin, from Finland, started work as an Au pair for the Garbold family this morning. This evening she has been left alone in the house with the baby. She speaks almost no English. The door bell rings and Mrs Garbold's brother , Nico, arrive unexpected. He is Italian and speaks very little English. Their "conversation " does nothing to help understanding. Albert, a typical Englishman arrives. He is the boyfriend of the previous Au pair .He does not know she has left and been replaced by Karin. Albert speaks neither Italian or Finnish. The confusion and misunderstanding grows including the question of who are the parents of the baby.

The play ends with Albert and Nico dead an Karin confused. OK - after reading that she is probably not the only confused one around here!

This is a very funny short play spoken in the English language but done in such a way as to think the characters are speaking fluent in their own language.
